CONTENT-THEMATIC FEATURES OF HATE SPEECH ON PAGES OF UKRAINIAN AND RUSSIAN EDITIONS

Popis: | Armed confrontation between Ukraine and Russia in the east of Ukraine has been cause of intensification of the use hate speech by the media. Hate speech is a powerful means of Russian propaganda and Ukrainian counter-propaganda. In the article was analyzed thematic orientation of hate speech on the pages of Ukrainian and Russian press, highlighted the peculiarities of use, described similar and distinctive features. Firstly, it has been found out that hate speech on pages of Ukrainian editions is more means of expressiveness and expression of journalists' emotions rather than manifestation of propaganda. The peculiarity of hate speech in Russian publications is recourse to military topics, complete contempt for the Ukrainian side, sarcasm, frank lie, high level of verbal aggression, deliberate humiliation or complete leveling achievements of the Ukrainian conflict side. This study will be useful, first of all, for ordinary media users who expose to a huge amount of propaganda, counter-propaganda, and hate speech each day. In order to maintain own point of view, it is necessary for this study to be able to correctly perceive and to differentiate information that we offer to the media and, in the end, to choose honest and unbiased media for ourselves. |
