The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of “Safir” counseling pattern derived from the stories of Mantegh al Teir of Attar on increasing the meaningfulness of life. To evaluate the effectiveness of this model on enhancing the life meaningfulness, the experimental method with a pretest and posttest control group was used. The population consisted of all female undergraduate students at Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Allameh Tabataba’i University were enrolled in the academic year 2013-14. The sample consisted of 20 patients who were selected after the initial interview and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. Therapy sessions were held in 10 group counseling sessions. To evaluate the effectiveness of this model the meaning in life questionnaire of Farsydz and Morgan (2009) was used. The data were analyzed using ANCOVA. The results revealed the effectiveness of “Safir” counseling model on life meaningfulness. Accordingly, we conclude that the axes identified in this model can be used in the treatment of the native clients and it has the potential to the planning of the treatment. Finally, it is recommended that cultural and religious differences in generalizing the results should be considered. |
