Popis: This article is a product of the research project “Strategies and Challenges of Rural Education in the North of the Valle, ACERG Case”. It aims to contrast the challenges of rural education within the framework of ACERG’s experience with the postulates of the national education policy with an emphasis on peace building processes. The results show that rural education must necessarily be thought of in a holistic way, generating economic opportunities for the peasantry, guaranteeing access, permanence and egress to children and young people in programs that go beyond the comprehension and learning of themes set out in an established curriculum. Furthermore, the process must be accompanied by highly qualified teachers and families committed to overseeing it to ensure the compliance and development of educational programs that are proposed by the Ministry of National Education in Colombia.
