Popis: | Haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) is a disorder of unknown aetiology, which occurs more frequently in children. It starts acutely and leads to renal failure, acute microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia, frequently associated with thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic and neurological symptoms. The present paper analyzes the HUS cases hospitalized during 1972-2003 in the paediatric clinics Alfred Rusescu, Fundeni and Grigore Alexandrescu. A number of 48 children cases were included in our study, with ages varying from 28 days to 15 years; 23 female and 25 male; 14 of urban background, 34 of rural background; 34 survived, while 14 died. Our paper substantiates the clinical picture of the haemolytic-uraemic syndrome, characterized by haematological, renal and neurological signs and symptoms. The main laboratory anomalies are those reflecting the haemolytic anaemia, the thrombocytopenia, and the kidney injury |
