Popis: The aim of this study was to evaluate the Ni2+ removal with commercial iron particles. That cation is often found in acid mine drainage (AMD), which is one of the most serious environmental problems in the mining industry that affects natural waters sources. Laboratory tests were performed with commercial iron and synthetic solutions containing Ni2+, to observe not only the kinetic of the removal but the equilibrium data as well. The obtained data showed that these followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model while kinetic data were fitted with the pseudo second order equation of the adsorption model. This study concludes that the nickel removal with zero valent iron (ZVI) is possible and occurs quickly.
