Providing Comfortable Working Conditions when Working with Visual Display Terminals of Personal Computers

| Popis: | The issue of ergonomics and work place safety in the modern computerized and automated world is quite relevant. A successful solution to this issue is to ensure and maintain proper working conditions not only in the work area but also in the premises as a whole. The wide spread adoption of computer technology in almost every field of human activity makes it possible to greatly simplify the various processes and operations performed. At the same time, every day, the number of professions and persons who partially or fully use a personal computer in their professional activity is constantly increasing. These include medicine, light and heavy industry, educational institutions, administrative bodies and public places, and more. The printing industry is not an exception to this list, as a large quantity of different printing technologies, methods and processes are working through computerized systems and personal computers in particular. The main attention of this publication is on the problem of protecting and maintaining the health of workers at the visual display terminals of personal computers. The legal framework on occupational safety clearly regulates the requirements for creating and maintaining appropriate and safe working conditions, as well as preventing the occurrence of accidents and occupational diseases. The proposed article, based on an informative search in literary and electronic sources, analyzes and addresses the issues of occupational safety and health of persons directly in volved in the use of personal computers. The causes and effects of work on the visual display terminals of personal computers and the diseases that occur during the work on them are considered. The optimum indicators of the meteorological conditions of the microclimate for the categories Ia and Ib (relative humidity, temperature and air velocity) in the working area of the production premises are provided, which will provide comfortable working conditions. The list of important factors influencing the level of working capacity and well-being of persons, according to sanitary norms, describes their characteristics and requirements for them. |
