The research aimed to 1) study the learning achievement and scientific problem solving ability of the second year undergraduate students through the problem-based learning activity on chemical safety, compare the learning achievement on chemical safety between before and after learning, compare the scientific problem solving ability between before and after learning, study the learning outcomes of the students, and 2) to study the students’ satisfaction toward the learning activities. The sample group was one classroom (n=30) of the second year undergraduate students of the Faculty of Science, Srinakharinwirot University by using purposive sampling. The research tools for collecting data consisted of 1) the problem-based learning activity package on chemical safety, 2) the leaning achievement test, 3) the scientific problem solving ability test, and 4) the students’ satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed that 1) the mean scores of learning achievement of post-test were higher than those of pretest at the statistically significant.05 level, 2) the mean scores of scientific problem solving ability of posttest were higher than those of pretest at the statistically significant.05 level, 3) the learning outcomes of the participants have mean score at 78.63 %, and 4) the students’ satisfaction towards the learning activities on chemical safety was at good level of satisfaction. The students have more knowledge of chemical safety, and they enjoyed the problem-based learning activity because they have practiced the thinking skills, problem solving, collaboration, communication, and information communication and technology. |
