Popis: Urban regeneration is a complex process. It requires strategies to correctly detect the problems that cause the deterioration of the urban and social fabric, and sensitivity to be able to design the specific response in each case. Innovations are currently emerging in cities regarding the planning and project methodologies to be implemented, with special emphasis on the relationship between local administrations and citizens. This research reviews as case studies the Re-urbanization of villas miseria in Argentina and the 'Super- blocks' in Spain as contrasting examples of urban interventions that seek to alter pre-existing urban morp- hologies, in order to achieve improvements in the quality of life of the inhabitants . The Ensanche for Barcelona is reinterpreted through the proposals of the Agencia de Ecología Urbana to ex- pand public spaces in the Sant Antoni neighborhood; while the Programa de Reurbanización de Villas in Bue- nos Aires proposes, in Villa 20, the participatory reinterpretation of the pre-existing neighborhood, to achieve its integration with the rest of the city, valuing the self-managed popular habitat. In both case studies, there are also defenders and detractors, desired and undesired effects of these new interventions that are interesting to address and evaluate.
