Popis: The aim of this study is to investigate if verbs which are chemical related can be used in order to give preschoolers the opportunity to explore about basic chemical processes. The method used is teaching attempts where a planned activity is performed based on the chemistry related verbs mix, suspend and separate. The activity is performed with five children who are between five and six years old. The children’s conversation during the activity was recorded and then analyzed. The result shows that the children gave own suggestions on what could be investigated about the verbs mix, suspend and separate. From the children’s suggestions were categories created as: what happens, resolves, change of colors, taste, smell, temperature, filter and strain. The result also shows that the children used the verbs during the activity. However, the emphasis was on the verb mix and less on the other two. Since the study shows that the activity gave the children the opportunity to explore basic chemical processes through the verbs mix, suspend and separate can verbs be used as a tool to help preschool teachers in the work with chemical processes.
