Interest in self-help literature is a growing trend in this century, as is interest in social networks. Goodreads is a social network that connects readers around the world. The aim of this paper is to connect these two topics - the positioning of self-help literature on Goodreads and to answer the question of how to mark self-help literature on Goodreads. The purpose of this research is to contribute to an under-researched area and to understand how users use Goodreads, what they think about self-help literature and how they mark it, and to point out possible improvements to this social network. The theoretical overview of the paper focuses on theories of self-help literature and tagging theory. The research part of the work is divided into two parts: in the first part, an analysis of the content of self-help literature on Goodreads was conducted, and in the second part, semi-structured interviews with people who use Goodreads were conducted. The results of the content analysis of the books included in the research indicate that Goodreads users do not use the Croatian version of the term "self-help literature" to tag documents, but only the English version of the term - self-help, and that users use the same terminology when tagging books. The results of the interview analysis indicate that the respondents do not tag self help literature differently from others, but that they have different critical opinions about self-help literature. Also, an insight was gained into: criteria for evaluating self-help literature on Goodreads, user trust in the comments of other users, as well as the shortcomings of this social network.
