Popis: With a point of departure in the historical development from free, spontaneous play to organized sports, this chapter illuminates how the personal trouble of reduced joy in competitive sport is linked with more overarching social issues. The chapter shows how intensification processes connected to performance focus, result optimization, and resource mobilization are at risk of marginalizing creative practices and reducing the inherently joyful experiences of sporting activities. Offering an avenue to revitalize play and spontaneity in organized sports, the chapter introduces a novel model for developing creative climates in sport. Further, it discusses how the establishment of creative climates could potentially counteract the detrimental effects of intensification, and, in turn, contribute to social change in re-defining the logics of future sport and its role in society.
