This study presents the results of the coprological examination of horses of different ages and breeds, whose samples were delivered to the Department of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases with Clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb in 2021. A total of 123 samples from all age categories were examined, most of which were from Croatian warmbloods. The flotation method, FLOTAC, and larval cultures were used in this research. Strongyle-type eggs were found most frequently (92%). Eggs of the nematodes Parascaris spp. (4%) , Oxyuris equi (3%) and the tapeworm Anoplocephala spp. (1%) were also found. All larvae found using larval cultures were identified as small strongyle larvae, type A. Considering the very small number of samples tested, it is clear that veterinarians and horse owners need to be further educated on the importance of coprological testing versus the uncontrolled and far too frequent use of anthelmintics.
