To determine fruit quality traits, non-destructive methods like near infrared spectroscopy are displacing traditional procedures. The interpretation of NIR spectra. involves a complex statistical analysis as the whole spectrum is used to obtain the calibration equations which permit to assess some quality traits already determined by destructive methods, such as a texturometer for rheological properties or a refracto meter for total soluble solids content .
