The study showed that this could be due to the formation of complexes between different ethylene receptor proteins, as some of them reside at the same location within the cell. The various members of the primary ethylene transcription factor family are present in all cells and thus are probably not involved in the above phenomenon. A new function of ethylene is also described: the hormone is responsible for the fact that in tobacco, the pollen are released at the same time that the flower corolla opens. Another function of ethylene, during ovule development, appeared to be more complex than described previously RU Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, 05 februari 2004 Promotor : Mariani, C.
