Popis: The integrated analysis of the geophysical, stratigraphic and geomorphological data collected in the Taranto seas, highlights the Holocene transgression that leads to the deposition of a considerable thickness of sandy-clay sediments, up to about 10 m thick, representing the body of marine terrace current in accumulation. They cover a sub-horizontal transgression surface shaped on the Plio- Pleistocene clays. The comparative analysis of sedimentary bodies and present depths confirm the current evolutionary model of the Tyrrhenian; in this time, between the sea surface and the bottom of that sea a depth equal to the difference between the shoreline and the recognized top of the sediment.
