In my thesis it was necessary to make design calculations for reverse osmosis (RO) system plant, in order to decrease nitrate concentration in well water. Chemical composition of well water currently meets drinking water quality standards, but there has been a steady increase in nitrate concentration, and this plant seeks to ensure the required water quality. In the first part of the paper, a theoretical topic was elaborated, ie the necessary theoretical basics on water, nitrates and membrane technologies were clarified. This identified the cause of the problem in this final paper and clarified the process by which it would be addressed. The second part of the paper presents a computer program that was used to design the basic plant and present the results of the obtained design. The presented results show the efficiency of the plant and the consumption of energy and chemicals required for the operation of the plant. Appropriate plant schemes are also attached as part of the paper.
