Proposal for bioreactor landfill for city of Novska

Popis: Onečišćavanje okoliša otpadom još uvijek predstavlja veliki problem. Iako su sanitarna odlagališta uvelike smanjila razmjere problema koji je mogao nastati da se otpad neuređeno odbacivao u prirodi i ljudskoj okolini, zbog velikih količina komunalnog otpada, sada su i ona problem. Uz odvajanje pojedinih vrsta otpada, recikliranje, kompostiranje i termičke postupke, pažnju zaslužuju i bioreaktorska odlagališta. Takva odlagališta namijenjena su za odlaganje miješanog komunalnog otpada, a kao produkt nastaje odlagališni plin. U bioreaktorskim odlagalištima, postižu se uvjeti za biorazgradnju otpada dodavanjem vode i održavanjem uvjeta pogodnim za bakterijsku aktivnost. Odlagališni plinovi daju mogućnost energetskog iskorištenja u svrhu dobitka toplinske ili električne energije. U ovom radu opisani su procesi i uvjeti kojima se postiže bolja biorazgradnja unutar tijela odlagališta te prednosti i nedostatci bioreaktorskih odlagališta. U radu su navedeni primjeri MBO postrojenja i bioreaktorskih odlagališta diljem svijeta, ali i unutar Republike Hrvatske. Također, dan je prijedlog za jedno takvo bioreaktorsko odlagalište za grad Novsku.
Pollution of the environment with waste is still a big problem. Although sanitary landfills have greatly reduced the scale of the problem that could have arisen if waste had been disposed of in nature and in the human environment, due to large amounts of municipal waste, they are now a problem as well. In addition to the separation of certain types of waste, recycling, composting and thermal processes, bioreactor landfills also deserve attention. Such landfills are intended for the disposal of mixed municipal waste, and landfill gas is produced as a product. In bioreactor landfills, conditions for biodegradation of waste are achieved by adding water and maintaining conditions suitable for bacterial activity. Landfill gases provide the possibility of energy utilization for the purpose of obtaining heat or electricity. This paper describes the processes and conditions that achieve better biodegradation within the body of the landfill, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of bioreactor landfills. Examples of MBT plants and bioreactor landfills around the world, as well as within the Republic of Croatia, are listed in the paper. Also, a proposal was made for one such bioreactor landfill for the city of Novska.
