Popis:	We consider a collaborative arrangement where a number of companiesare willing to share expensive spare parts, required for both failurereplacement and preventive maintenance purposes. We developa discrete-time Markov decision model for the joint optimization ofmaintenance and spare parts inventory policies for both a single- and amulti-company problem. The cost savings obtained as a result of sharingare evaluated. A number of cost allocation schemes, making all thecompanies involved being better off by sharing the spare parts ratherthan acting independently, are developed.
