The draft 3R-Red de Repositorios Universitarios de Recursos Digitales is a research project aimed at developing a prototype University Repositories (UR) within the UNAM. Part of his work focuses on the development of policies bibliographic description for those digital objects that make up the UR attached to the project. Currently this work has been in analysis and assessment of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI), which is a protocol for transferring metadata appropriate to the requirements of 3R draft. However, given the ambiguity DCMI introduced when recording information in some of its elements —such as title, creator, editor and contributor—, envisioned the need to use alternate schemes to assist in the provision and standardization of information digital objects that make up the UR. Therefore, this work addresses the specific problem of bibliographic description and information on the fifteen elements that make up the core of Dublin Core, in paticular four of them, while proposing the use of other encoding schemes for the bibliographic description, as is the case with the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2 (AACR-2) and different ISO standards, in order to obtain a set of metadata that allows the retrieval and exchange of information among the various University Repositories comprising the draft 3R. |
