Popis: | Mobility of various heavy metals in a soil amended with composts of olive mill wastes or urban solid refuse is studied by leaching homogeneous soil columns with aqueous extracts of these composts and resisues from paper industry. The results are compared with the effect of leaching with non-specific electrolyte and EDTA solution. The compost extracts show a significant capacity to mobilise Mn, Zn, and, in some cases, Pb or Ni, while Cu and Fe present in the extracts are preferentially retained by the soils. The extract from olive oil industry was more efficient in mobilising metals than those from urban solid refuse or paper industry, and often comparable to the action of EDTA. Although amendment with these solid composts may decrease or retard metal mobilisation, their soluble fractions have a mobilising power of environmental significance. |
