Popis: In the rehabilitation projects of historical buildings it has been relatively frequent for some time the use of ventilated air cavities buried close to the foundation, as a method to fight capillary rising damp. Nevertheless, the details of how it works are not known and technical personnel lack the tools to design it during the project planning phase, and to check that it works property after construction. We deal with the tuning of a procedure for in-situ assessment of ventilated air cavities, based on the permeability of materials and the conditions of water flow, both liquid and steam, and air movement within the cavity. This method is limited to linear air cavities, historical or recent. Specifically it has been applied to a drainage and ventilation cavity of the external side of the south wall of the church in the convent of Santa Cruz La Real in Segovia (Spain). We explain the use and installation of specific instrumentation, and the results of the analysis of different parameters, registered in graphs. We demonstrate the viability of this method in real practice, aiming at its extrapolation to the functional follow-up of other air cavities with different conditions and formal and functional characteristics
