The effect of VpCI cleaners for surface preparation on coating protection properties

Popis: Kvalitetna priprema povrsine prije nanosenja premaza osigurava postizanje zastitnih svojstava premaza i dug vijek trajanja. Klasicne metode pripreme povrsine poput pjeskarenja ucinkovite su pri uklanjanju korozijskih produkata i za postizanje optimalne hrapavosti. Klasicni postupci zahtijevaju naknadno odmascivanje povrsine koje se najcesce izvodi koristenjem razrjedivaca. Donosenjem ekoloskih regulativa i zakona, razrjedivaci se nastoje zamijeniti cistacima na bazi vode s dodatkom inhibitora korozije pri cemu se postize i privremena zastita od korozije. U radu su ispitana tri cistaca na bazi vode s hlapivim inhibitorom korozije te je njihova djelotvornost usporedena s celicnim uzorcima pripremljenim klasicnim postupcima pjeskarenja i odmascivanja razrjedivacem. Aplicirani su akrilni i epoksidni premazi (s hlapivim inhibitorima i bez njih). Ispitivanja su provedena u slanoj i vlaznoj komori, nakon cega je ispitana prionjivost prevlake te se ocjenjivao stupanj propadanja premaza. Pomocu elektrokemijske impedancijske spektroskopije odredena je otpornost prevlake u 3,5% -tnoj otopini NaCl. Quality surface preparation before application of coating ensures that protective properties are long and durable. The classic methods of surface preparation such as sandblasting have been proven to be effective in the removal of corrosion products and to achieve the desired degree of roughness. Such a method of surface preparation requires a degreasing process, which is usually performed using a thinner. By adopting environmental regulations and laws, thinners attempt to be replaced with a water based cleaner with the addition of corrosion inhibitors, while providing temporary corrosion protection. Three water-based cleaners with a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor were studied, and their efficiency was compared with steel samples prepared by classical methods of sandblasting and degreasing by thinner. Acrylic and epoxy coatings (with and without vapour phase inhibitors) were applied to the prepared surface. The tests were carried out in the salt spray and humidity chamber, after which the coating adhesion was tested and the degree of degradation of coatings was evaluated. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed resistance of coating in 3.5% NaCl solution.
