Popis: | "Technology and the Other: Exploring the meaning of material artefacts in everyday life". PhD Course with Ernst Schraube & Langdon Winner. November 17-19, 2011, Roskilde University, Denmark. [EN] We begin considering the relation between human body, functioning and environment. Connecting with this relation, we expose two basic approaches in design practices: Procrustean approach and Ergonomic approach. Then, we will arrive to the study of situations of technological inequality, manifested as different types of technological ‘barriers’, and the production of ‘otherness’ based on these inequalities. We, also, discuss the origin and some ways to solve these barriers through the implementation of various strategies pointing to the diversity in modes of functioning and interaction with technologies. Recognition of all the different possible expressions of functioning leads us to awareness of ‘functional diversity’. We will dedicate the last part of the presentation to explore six different dimensions on the concept of functional diversity and the relation between them. |
