Popis: A survey was carried out to investigate how students evaluate VOD (Video on Demand) materials of ""Research of Teaching Japanese as a Second Language"" used on WebCT. 30 students who take the class of ""Psychology of Second Language Learning"" experienced a VOD material of ""Psychology of Second Language Learning"" about 30 minutes in the classroom. They were then asked to evaluate the VOD material on 5-point scale (1: agree~5: disagree). The inquiries were made concerning the following 3 aspects: (1) degree of understanding of contents compared with the conventional class (8 items), (2) impression of forms in material construction (6 items), (3) imagery of the VOD materials (6 items). Mean rating scores on each item were calculated and Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficients were calculated between items. The main findings were as follows: (a) degree of understanding of contents was evaluated in slightly negative direction in comparison with original lectures, (b) impression of forms in material construction was evaluated in positive direction except for ""keeping good stress in the class"", (c) imagery of the VOD materials was evaluated both in positive and negative directions. It was indicated that the VOD materials could be more efficiently used in the conventional classes. It was also suggested that the VOD materials should be developed in order to resolve some difficulties (e.g., students' self-learning, demonstration of psychological experiments) in the conventional classes, especially conventional lectures.
