The need for decision making can be identified by every individual and in all sorts of business organizations. Decision making is an iterative process in which the implementation of decision results in producing new information that can be used as a base for decision making in some other situation. Some information are produced more than one time in different organizations and situations – so, we use our resources to create an information that already exists, that was produced by some one else – this is a paradox. If we want to understand the term decision, we have to understand the process of managing as a process in which we convert information in action. In this process we may benefit from the use of information systems. Information systems can be understand as continuity process of gathering different information and processing of these information for decision making process. They serve as a base for managing in different levels of organization, and they provide managers with information necessary for decision making process. Some types of information systems, e.g. expert systems, decision support systems, are specialized for decision making support. |
