Popis: Purpose of the Study: The main purpose of this study is to report the status quo based on the resultof questionnaire survey related to the senior high school students’ ca reer consciousness and the sense ofpurpose in Okinawa.\nDesign and Methods: The authors carried out the questionnaire survey on high school students’ careerconsciousness and the sense of purpose at 12 prefectural high schools in Okinawa. Respondents (N=899)completed the questionnaire and questions of each category were analyzed as descriptive data for thisreport. The descriptive data were compared with that conducted in 1998.\nResults: The results show that the tendency of students’ career consciousness and the sense of purposeare the almost same the result conducted in 1988. There are several differences between genders in somequestions such as favorite subjects and type of jobs.\nImplications: It is a good way for high school students to have more chances to talk about many topicssuch as future jobs with parents, teachers, and classmates to improve their motivation to understand theimportance of academic works and their future career. Furthermore, the importance of career educationfocused on life-long education should be considered in high schools, especially for male students.
