Popis: | Trabajo presentado en el International Symposium on Flowering, Fruit Set and Alterna te Bearing, celebrado en Palermo del 19 al 23 de junio de 2017. Olive cultivation has been expanding worldwide over the last decades. The expansion to new growing areas with ditTerent environmental conditions and the threat of climate change require knowledge of genetic and environmental intluences on olive production, to which the phenology and quality of llowering are criti cal. The IFAPA olive breeding program of Córdoba, Spain, has establi shed comparative tria ls located in difterent agroclimatic conditions of Andalucía, Southern Spain tor testing the response of cultivars and breeding selections to varied environments. This study reports initial results (two years) for flowering of cultivars Arbequina, Koroneiki and Pi cual in tour locations: three trials in typical olive growing areas Antequera (AN) and Baena (BA), both under rainfed conditions, and Úbeda (UB) with drip irrigation. and the tourth in Gibraleón (Gl), a location with mild winter temperatures at the lim it of the Andalusian area of olive cultivation. We observed flowering phenology, bloom period. and tlower quality, and assessed the relative intluence of genetic and environmental tactors and their interaction. Flowering phenology showed high variability among the ditrerent growing areas, with earliest full tlowering (F2) in Gl for all cultivars (late April). Gl also presented the longest blooming period (around 45 days) for all cultivars, while, 'Koroneiki' had the longest blooming period for all locations overall. ln tlower quality we observed s ignifican! differences both for environments and cultivars. UB showed the best inflorescence quality, with the highest percentage of perfect (hennaphrodite) tlowers (PF%), while BA showed the worst PF%, possibly related to both lim e-fi lled soils and rainted conditions. However, in spite of diffcrences among growing areas, the cu ltivars consistently presented the same order of PF% in all places, with highest PF% in 'Arbequina', tollowed by 'Koroneiki' and finally ' Picual'. |
