Popis: Evaluation of Main Risk Factors and Treatment Adherence in Patients with Arterial Hypertension Author: Julija Deinarovič, the four-year student of Vilnius University Nursery Bachelor Programme. Research supervisor: lector dr. Rasa Stundžienė, Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University, the Department of the Nursery and Inner Disease Basics. Paper volume: 54 pages. Aim of study: evaluate main risk factors and abidance of treatment regimen in infirm with arterial hypertension. Study tasks: 1. To ascertain prevalence of main risk factors in patients with arterial hypertension. 2. To identify abidance of treatment regimen both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical in patients with arterial hypertension. 3. To learn about role of nurse in monitoring abidance of treatment regimen in patients with arterial hypertension. Study methods: Participants in this study were patients of Vilnius public institution „Christian Medical Center“ with arterial hypertension. A form of 23 questions prepared by author was used for this study trial. Survey was performed in period from November, 2015 to March, 2016. A total of 101 respondent participated in this trial. Statistical analysis was made using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 ir SPSS Statistics 16.0. Results: 62,4 percents of women and 37,6 percents of men participated in this trial. Main modifiable risk factors in infirm with arterial hypertension were: overweight/obesity (n=49; 48,5 percents) of Ist degree and (n=28, 27,7 percents) of IId degree, nervous strain (n=43; 64,2 percents), low physical activity (n=83, 82,2 percents). It was found out that subjects with good arterial blood pressure control or normal blood pressure (n=11; 73,3 percents) feel stress less. Evaluating abidance of hypertension treatment regimen both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical in patients with arterial hypertension we found out that half of patients (n=51; 50,5 percents) forgets to use medicine, less part (n=17; 16,80 percents) neglects opportunity to take pills for hypertension on time. More than two-thirds of patients (n=74; 73,3 percents) try to reduce amount of salt in food, two-thirdsof respondents (n =69; 68,3 percents) try to reduce weight and follow a diet (eat more fruit and vegetables, avoid fatty and fried food, (n=58; 57,4 percents). Very few patients exercise (n=18; 17,8 percents). Conclusion: 1. Evaluating main risk factors in patients with arterial hypertension were: stress, low physical activity and overweight. 2. Evaluating abidance of treatment regimen both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical in patients with arterial hypertension showed that 47,5 percents of respondents follow proper pharmaceutical treatment regimen Evaluating non-pharmaceutical treatment abidance showed that physical activity is low in same patients, but around two-thirds of respondents follow healthy nutrition habits 3. Evaluating role of a nurse in monitoring patients‘ abidance of treatment showed that two thirds of subjects did not get enough information about arterial hypertension and risk factors. It was established that nursing staff explained pharmaceutical intake regimen importance in arterial hypertension treatment efficiency for more than a half of participants
