Popis: | Treball de fi de grau en Traducció i Interpretació The globalization of trade has aroused the interest of companies to internationalize their products and distinguish them from others by applying trademarks. To this end, the merchandise license agreement has become one of the most common contracts in international trade. Translations of these contracts have also been increased by the fact that such documents are drafted in most cases in English. Therefore, companies often tum to translators in order to understand the content of license agreements. Despite the fact that experts should translate very often this type of documents, there is a gap in the study of this legal text and its linguistic features from the perspective of translation. For this reason, in this paper have been carried out a study of the merchandise license agreement, and have been analyzed both lexical and non-lexical problems that are deeply documented and commented in the annexes. Given the lack of infom1ation on this field, it was necessary to consult all kinds of resources and to turn to experts in order to solve specific problems from the text. This paper provides also a translation memory which was created with the Bitext2tmx program and which could be useful for other translators who will have to face with this type of contract in the future. To conclude, it is necessary to emphasize that the merchandise license agreement is characterized by a high terminological and phraseological density that should be studied thoroughly and systematized in order to facilitate the task of translation to professionals. |
