Popis: | International audience; As equestrian tourism is growing in France and woldwilde, we analyze here the economic impacts of a touristic and equestrian event, “the Equirando”. Organized every two years in France, it is one of the largest European gatherings of horsetrekking riders. Each participant has to make at least 100 km before converging to a meeting place for three days of celebration and sharing a common love of horses and nature. In 2012, the gathering point was established at Le Pin National Stud (Orne county and Basse Normandie region) from July 27th to 29th. 1184 participants and at least 500 spectators came for the event. A survey has been conducted during the event, interviewing riders and spectators but also organizers, employees, volunteers and exhibitors. Using the base theory, our analysis enabled us to calculate the direct, indirect and induce impacts of the event. The net injection (direct and indirect effects), that is to say the money which came in the territory thanks to the event, has been evaluated at 115,000€ for the county (6,103 km² and 29,2210 inhabitants) and at 210,000€ for the region (17,589 km² and 1,470,880 inhabitants). Adding the induce effects (reuse of the money, calculated thanks to a multiplier), the total impact of the Equirando is estimated at 190,000€ for the county and at 664,000€ for the region. Our aim is now to take into account not only the short term impacts of equestrian tourism but also its externalities and long term inscription in territorial development. |
