Popis: Exendin peptides are not only the most enigmatic of all toxins, but they are also among the most medically useful. Their genetic ancestry remains to be conclusively resolved, but the evidence and the principle of parsimony point toward a single evolutionary origin after duplication of an ancestral multidomain gene from a gene encoding hormones of the VIP/glucagon superfamily.
