Popis: | International audience; The larval caterpillar Pseudosphinx tetrio is a species that feeds specifically on two plants belonging to the family Apocynaceae. The genus Allamanda and Plumeria contain largely of shrubs or flowering trees which are grown throughout the tropical region including many parts of India. These plants are well known for their potential to be used as medicinal agents to cure infections, digestive diseases, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic action, anti-tumour potential, anti-oxidant properties etc. The present research highlights the interaction between the caterpillar and these poisonous plants without any impact on its health. |
