Title of Thesis Hospital Drug Formularies in the Czech Republic Drug formularies have been used for more than 50 years. Their importance in the hospital sector is increasing as more and more therapeutic alternatives arise and the drug-costs grow as well. Hospital drug formulary system is one of the most widely used mechanisms hospitals use to optimise their drug policy. The goal of the thesis was to evaluate the usage of the system on the sample of the Czech hospitals and to offer potential improve-ment. The starting point was to compile the current knowledge on the hospital drug formulary usage. The questionnaire based on the found data was designed to obtain the information on drug formulary system usage in the particular hospital. Then the questionnaire was sent to various Czech hospitals; at the same time, the questionnaire (translated into English) was sent to a German university hospital. By analyzing the obtained data a summary on up-to-date state of hospital drug formulary usage in the Czech Republic was produced.
