A research on the washability characteristic of stocked coal of Seyitömer lignites

Therefore, economical and environmental benefits will be supplied with the evaluation of stocked coal having 56.57% of ash content with a calorific value of 1200-1300 kcal/kg. For this purpose, before the float and sink process the removal methods of clay existing in coal were investigated to search washability characteristic of lower calorific value of stocked coal. It can be found out by looking into the clay slake durability indices that clay is disintegrated with time and this can not occur by using the screen. For this reason clay removal studies were performed by using the new designed trommel sieve having 18 and 5 mm opening size, double layered and in watery condition. Then products were obtained subjected to float and sink processes. -100+18 mm and -18+5 mm fractions of coals, whose clay sufficiently removed by the usage of trommel sieve, were exposed to float and sink tests separately in medium of 1.4 g cm-3 and 1.7 gcm-3. It was determined that ash content of floating products of -100+18 mm and -18+5 mm fractions at 1.4 gcm -3 was 23.3% with 30.8% combustible recovery and 2810 lower calorific value (LCV). Also floating of the samples sinking in 1.4 g cm-3 in the medium density (1.7 gcm-3), middling with 32% combustible recovery, 40.03% ash and 2000 kcal/kg lower calorific value were obtained. Ash content of tailing is 75.58%. -5 mm fraction of trommel sieve will be evaluated in a later work. |
