This Bachelor thesis tracks the changes related to the development of Formula 1 cars from its first season, which took place in 1950 until today. All the rules relating to the race itself, driver safety, construction and design of the car are adopted by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which have changed significantly over the years. Comparing the cars that have been used throughout history, one can see huge progress both from the outside (tires, aerodynamics, appearance) and inside (load-bearing structure, engine, refueling system). The thesis presents the time sequence of changes and the current state of the art in terms of material selection and technologies for the production of load-bearing structures of cars, engines, refueling systems and tires. |
