Popis: | 5 pages, 1 figure, 1 table, 5 references. There are at least six groups of beta-lactam antibiotics according to their structure. The first to be discovered and still the best from the clinical point of view are the penicillins and cephalosporins. Their biosynthetic pathways are also the best known from both the enzymatic and genetic points of view (1). Cephamycins, a particular kind of cephaiosporins with a methoxyl side chain at C-7. have also be en studied, especially due to the fact that they are produced by Streptomyces, procariotic filamentous bacteria, in contrast to the penicillins and cephalosporins produced by fungi. |
