An Analysis of Humour and its Translation to Lithuanian in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat (to Say Nothing of the Dog) Humour is a quality that belongs to human beings. Humour itself is not only an entertainment, but it can also be a tool to make fun of something or somebody, to defend oneself or, vice versa, to attack. Humour and its translation in a work of fiction was chosen as the subject of the study. The aim of the present paper is to analyze the concept of humour and its translation from English to Lithuanian. To accomplish the aim the novel by Jerome K. Jerome Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog) is chosen as the subject of analysis in the empirical part of the paper. The empirical part of the paper employs both the qualitative and the quantitative research methods, as well as the analytical method. |
