| Popis: | This thesis illustrated the many faces of DLB. With a unique approach, deeply phenotyping the symptomatology, disease burden and biological mechanisms, we showed that DLB is not only distinct in its cognitive profile, the non-cognitive symptoms are even more prominent and are highly impactful. We showed the importance of carefully assessing the many aspects of DLB, as they pose significant burden on patients and their families. Biological heterogeneity underlies differences in progression over time, but further research is needed to understand all aspects. The findings raise awareness and contribute to earlier recognition of DLB in clinical care. Future steps need to be taken to further untangle the mechanisms underlying heterogeneity, eventually, paving a way towards tailor-made biological diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies. |
