Popis: Over time, health has been interconnected to variations of the historical moments and scientific development, emphasizing its relationship with the theories that try to elaborate its concept. Despite advances made with the emergence of new theories, a more appropriate concept of health has not been obtained yet, due to the theme’s subjectivity. This study is the result of the search: "Control of causes, risks and damage of STI/STD/HIV/AIDS to adolescents - building a proposal for health surveillance in the city of Jequié-BA" and aims to identify the health conception of adolescents in the public middle school. This is a research with qualitative approach, having as main methodological reference the action-research. This research was conducted with 160 adolescents in 10 public municipal schools. Data were collected from workshops, using a script with trigger questions, and submitted to the analysis content technique, from which emerged five categories concerning health conception: Biological, Social, Ecological, Spiritual and Prevention. The survey results showed a variety of explanations about the health conception ranging from the reductionistic view that connects health only to a change/dysfunction of the physical body to the broader view recognizing the relationship between man and the environment, in the pursuit to satisfy their health needs, including the spiritual dimension.
