Popis: The article focuses on a present-tense conjugation peculiar to certain Croatian dialects, and on its possible origins, which may vary, depending on the specific dialect. The verbs in question belong to the first conjugation, subtype 1 (dòvesti : dovèdēm), according to Silić & Pranjković 2007. Stress patterns in their conjugation differ from dialect to dialect. The common feature across the dialects, however, is stress on the verb prefix, although the development of this phenomenon may differ even in related dialects. Among the neo-Štokavian Croatian dialects, which are spoken mostly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it may be the result of newer post-tonic long syllables, umlaut, the accent paradigm C, and accent shift in the infinitive. In old Štokavian dialects from Podravina, Hungarian influence may also have played a role.
