Study: Parallel implementation of a Shallow Water atmospheric model

Popis: The current software for planetary atmosphere simulations, at the moment of writing this thesis, is already extended to a Shallow­Water mono­layer and multi­layer model. Thus, this document focuses on the implementation of the atmospheric perturbations, as well as their numerical integration in the Shallow­Water model (SW3) contained in the SA3 code environment developed by the research group TUAREG. In this sense, the first step related to the code has been to debug and improve the implemented functions in order to make them more efficient and avoid redundant calculations that translate into unnecessary computational costs. A series of cases is provided below for verification purposes of the model, as well as the corresponding comparison with the results of the previous SW2 model. Then, the code has been adapted to perform simulations at poles, treatment not incorporated in the SW3 model compared to that of SW2. Simulation results are also provided for verification purposes of its implementation.
