Popis: The aim of this study is to show how the social pillar of sustainable development is depicted in fiction literature written for children between the ages 3-6 years. The aim is also to show what fiction literature contributes to education for social sustainable development. To answer the aim of the study content analysis was used and six fiction books was selected for analysis. The result show that social questions that are related to social sustainable development are depicted in the chosen books. However, the books lack a future focus to fully relate to social sustainable development. Despite that, that does not make the books unusable to teach children about social sustainability. The books show children a broad picture of people's different social conditions and form the basis for discussions where you yourself can add the future focus that most of the books are missing. The study provides knowledge about how fiction literature can be useful to broaden children’s perspective on social questions. Also, how teachers can use fiction literature as a source of knowledge about social sustainability and pass on experiences that might be hard to convey in other ways.
