Popis: It was Cesare Gnudi, the new Supervisor that succeeded Sorrentino inthe early fifties, who ensured a protection policy, as it was also happening in some of the most important artistic areas of Italy, consideringthe practice of extraction as the most suitable solution to facilitate thepreservation of endangered frescoes in the areas that he superintended. Gnudi did nothing but take up the action that his predecessorhad started. He followed the restorers of the Po area that used the ex-traction technique, the so-called estrattisti, and especially Raffaldini, who transferred the very famous and majestic fresco of Saint Jamesattributed to Pseudo Jacopino di Francesco, San Giacomo alla battagliadi Clavijo, rediscovered under the wall plaster of Basilica of San Giacomo Maggiore, and the huge fresco with the parable of the great banquet, Parabola del banchetto alle nozze reali, by Bartolomeo Cesi inthe convent refectory of San Giovanni in Monte around 1955.
