The current environmental conditions have led to perform a constant search for new materials having less effect index on the environmental, being interesting find materials that preferably come from post-consumer and/or agroindustrial waste, and that may become in partial substitutes for natural wood. In order to produce a material with good properties which can be alternative to solve this problem, to develop a composite material with matrix LDPE/PP (virgin) reinforced with wood dust particles, which were obtained from post-consumer and agroindustrial waste; was proposed. Considering the aspects previously mentioned, a polymeric matrix LDPE/PP (0/100, 25/75, 50/50, 75/25 and 100/0), homogenized by the process of continuous profiles extrusion, using a single screw, reinforced whit different proportions of wood dust (0, 25 and 50% by weight), to obtain boards of wood plastic composite (WPC) by hot uniaxial pressing, was developed in the present project. The different samples were characterized physically and mechanically, obtaining as result that more important that a higher content of PP and wood dust produce mechanical properties better, however with a increasing of LDPE in the polymeric matrix the processability of the composite material could be better, due that there was an increase in MFI. Finally it was possible obtain a composite material with good properties, which can take into consideration this composite material as a possible replacement of natural wood in the industry |
