Popis: | Reunión Nacional de Geomorfología (15ª. 2018. Palma de Mallorca). - Texto en español con resumen en inglés y palabras claves en inglés y español The recent discovery and archaeological excavation of the ruins of the Roman theater of the former Colonia Iulia Gemella Acci (present‐day city of Guadix, province of Granada, Southeastern Spain), built in the time of Tiberius (25‐30 AD), has allowed edimentological analysis and interpretation of detrital sedimentary sequences that cover and contain archaeological remains. Through detailed sedimentological sections and lateral correlation panels in various areas of the detrital landfill, at least two moments of rapid sedimentation have been characterized, which have been interpreted as fluvial palaeoflood events. The oldest palaeoflood (30 to 60 AD), which covered the porticus of the Roman theater, presented characteristics of fluvial overflow with high solid load (mudflow). The most modern event was a palaeoflood at the beginning of the 12th Century (during the Islamic Andalusian period), with characteristics of an abandoned meander bend. These results have interesting applications to flood risk analysis and prevention.
