Popis: The Canadian Penning Trap mass spectrometer has been used to determine the mass excesses of 64Ge and 64Ga as −54344(30) keV and −58832.5(39) keV, respectively. Under typical conditions used for modeling x-ray bursts, 64Ge is confirmed as a waiting-point nuclide and can contribute up to 35.5 s to the timescale of the rp process at a peak x-ray burst temperature of 1.5 GK.
