Water is a multipurpose resource, which is necessary for the life of all living beings. Water used for human consumption must be wholesome and clean, respectively it must not contain microorganisms, toxins, or harmful substances. Water often has various microbiological and chemical compositions because it contains substances that get into it from the soil or atmosphere. In order to provide people with wholesome and clean water, we implement numerous purification methods. The most common water treatment methods are filtration, sedimentation, coagulation and filtration, disinfection, and water softening. This paper presents the processes of drinking water treatment in the city of Slavonski Brod. Jelas water pumping station draws and processes groundwater for human consumption. As a source, it uses five wells, each of which has a capacity of 50 l/s. Raw water from the Jelas pumping station has increased concentrations of ammonia, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, and iron. For this reason, certain parameters are monitored daily after certain stages of water treatment. Processing underground raw water from the Jelas pumping station is carried out by DUAL – MEDIA filtration, filtration with activated carbon filters, and previous ozonation of water. |
