Popis: Tendencies of Solving Standard and Non-standard Mathematics Problems There are national and international surveys and examinations to determine students’ mathematics skills. The most common tasks which are given to the students are usually standard ones. Students get to do non-standard problems by participating in olympiads or other mathematical competitions, but this includes only a specific group of students who are very much interested in mathematics. This study aimed to investigate how ordinary students solve both standard and non-standard Math problems. The study included five standard and five non-standard tasks performed by five Vilnius County gymnasium students, which included 231 gymnasium second graders and 226 gymnasium fourth graders. The study sought to find out the differences between classes, cities and types of tasks. After assessing and coding all the works and analysis of the results, some of the initial hypothesis were confirmed, but also unexpected exceptions found.
