Popis: | A model of a thrust generation mechanism for an oscillating wing which is based on the heaving and pitching motions of the fish's "wing" (tail fin) was developed. The oscillating wing system was expected to be a new highly efficient ship propelling system. According to the model, optimum motions of the wing which had the highest thrust efficiencies were found by using a numerical analysis method. Moreover, the experimental data of an oscillating wing propulsion ship were compared with the optimum motions calculated by the model. The results may be used for improvement of the oscillating wing system. The results were as follows. (1) Concerning the thrust force and its efficiency, the virtual mass term is more dominant at relatively lower dimensionless velocity. On the other hand, the lift component is superior at higher dimensionless velocity. (2) The wing pitching motion of the experimental ship shows almost the same phase lag to the arm motion and smaller amplitude compared with the optimum motion. (3) By comparing the experimental data with the calculated optimum motion, it is possible to obtain the guiding principle for designing the oscillating wing system. 論文 |
