Assessment and decision making is affected by cognitive reference points and can be influenced by relevant and irrelevant information. Even mood and associations can influence our perception of an object. The present study explores when the effect of emotional priming applies and when the effect of anchoring heuristic applies, by allowing ten participants estimate the beauty of nature photos after being exposed to positive or neutral stimuli in the form of cartoons. The experiment had a balanced within-subjects-design. The main results show no significant effects of type of serie could be obtained. A low number of participants, and a stimulus material that was not strong or extensive enough are discussed as possible reasons for the obtained result.
